FAQ

Question:
Why do I get an error when trying to install Penfriend on Windows 2000/NT/XP?

Affecting products:
Penfriend XP

Problem:

When I try to install Penfriend I get an error referring to the registry.

Solution:

Penfriend XP is designed to run on Windows 2000, NT, XP and beyond. In order to install it, you must be logged on to Windows as an administrator. That is, when you switch on the computer, you must log in with a username and password which give you special privileges to modify software on the computer

You should probably be 'Administrator', but the name of a suitable administrative user may have been changed in your system; contact your ICT system administrator.

You will not need to be an administrator while using Penfriend XP normally; it's just while installing it.
