FAQQuestion: Affecting products: Problem: I can't get my version of Clicker to work with Penfriend. Solution: Clicker, a product for special and general needs, from Crick Software, can predict words from Penfriend without the user having to manipulate Penfriend itself. The words can appear in a Clicker grid along with other words and actions. Clicker 5.2 has just been released and integrates with Penfriend XP and XL version 3. It can be downloaded from Crick Software To use with Penfriend you will need version 3.0.4.7 or later. This can be downloaded from Penfriend downloads Open Clicker 5.2, go to options/user preferences/writing, and open a prediction keybord in Clicker. This will then open Penfriend. If you have both Penfriend XP and XL on your computer it will open the most recently installed program. Penfriend version 3.0.5.2 or later will work with both Clicker 5.2 and Clicker 4 Clicker 5.2 will not work with Penfriend XP version 2. There are reduced prices for upgrading. For Clicker 4 and Penfriend versions 2 or 3 On Windows NT, 2000 and XP, you will need Clicker 4 version 4.1.61 or higher and Penfriend XP version 2.0.4 or higher in order to communicate. To see it in action, first load both programs. Then go to the "Examples", then "Keyboard", then "Predict". As you type words into Clicker Writer, predictions should appear in the column of cells on the left. To make your own predicting Clicker cells, you should put the string {predict} in the cell contents. This will be replaced with a predicted word when appropriate. Clicker 4 apparently allocates the list of words from Penfriend to the cells in the order they appear on screen, from top to bottom. There is no difference in the magic cell text to indicate which word is desired in any particular cell. Versions of Clicker 3 and Penfriend W3 (or Penfriend for Windows as it was previously known) have worked together for several years now on Windows 95, Windows 98 and Windows Me.
